From Burma to Buffalo. An amazing love story.

It must be fate.

Heidal and Sing never met before they each moved to Western New York both from Burma, independently of each other. They met shortly shortly thereafter for the first time. After their initial conversation they discovered an incredible coincidence. Not only are they both from the same country, they both grew up in the same town! So two people from the same town move half way around the world to Buffalo New York and meet for the first time. Of course it wouldn’t be an amazing love story without a happy storybook ending. Fast forward to today, February 24, 2018, their wedding day.

As is traditional Asian custom we first did a pre wedding studio session. Their first stop in the morning was to Salon Elizabeth. The talented artists Lizzy and Laurie worked their magic on our bride and groom. Working in studio on the wedding day is a nice departure from the norm, and a great way to get to know the couple before the wedding ceremony. 

After the studio portraits it was on to Niagara Falls City Hall for the wedding ceremony. After the brief nuptials we took a few images in the lobby of the court house before going outside for the remainder of the photo session.

It is a very nice day by late February standards with light wind and mild temperatures in the forties. Sometimes being cold comes across in the photos, but today our newlyweds were cozy and comfortable on the steps of City Hall.

I love this next photograph the most. It was taken at the end of the photo session. Scroll up to the second shot from the studio. It was taken in the beginning of the shoot. They are reserved and a bit stoic. Now check them out. They are being playful and are so full of joy. After working with them for a few short hours we earned their trust, they loosened up and we all had fun and became friends. For me, that’s the rewarding part of our job.
