A second wedding photographer is a huge benefit

There are no do overs in wedding photography. So another pair of eyes from a second photographer is a huge benefit to the wedding couple. As the “main photographer” I always wish I had eyes in the back of my head. So many great shots are happening behind me or off to the side while I concentrate on the traditional portraiture. Also, being in two places at once is necessary and impossible at the same time for just one photographer.

Candid camera

I love the artistry and of a well lit, well posed wedding portrait set in a dramatic environment. Equally important however is the spontaneity and raw emotion of a well timed candid shot. Capturing that special moment in time is often the responsibility of the second shooter. A second wedding photographer is a huge benefit.

More often than not These images are our black and whites. We don’t want anything distracting the viewer from the emotion like bright colors. Black and white also lends itself to the journalistic feel of a wedding day candid photograph.

Another major benefit of a second photographer is simply the fact that no two photographers see things with the same eye. It doesn’t make one better than the other just different. Every bride and groom loves the variety of two artistic viewpoints. I love this image below shot at the Foundry Suites outdoor courtyard for it’s honest emotion.

The next two images are a classic example of two different points of view of the same shot at the same time. It was sunset at the Pioneer camp and retreat center. We took our bride and groom down to the beach. While I was laboring with balancing flash and ambient light Snjezana was capturing an awesome image with the brides shoes in the foreground. 

It’s important to know that FCI Photography doesn’t charge extra for a second shooter. All our wedding packages include two photographers. We believe strongly in the value of a second wedding day photographer.
